Using the scanner

It is now possible to use the scanner in D129.

You can access the scanner from any of the grad Linux PC's using one of the following programs:

scanimage - a command line utility. You really need to read the man page to use this one.
xscanimage - a graphical utility. As to be run from within a X session.
gimp - go to the Xtns menu, Acquire Image, Device Dialog. This is basically a tight integration between xscanimage and the gimp and the preferred way to use the scanner. The scanned image can immediately be manipulated in the gimp.
