           A  quick guide  to the softwares available on the PC.

acroread:
          Acrobat reader for reading PDF formatted file is now available.

          command: acroread  or /usr/local/bin/acroread

OpenOffice:  an office suite.

gfortran:    GNU Fortran 95 compiler in /usr/local/bin/gfortran
		put a line in your .bash_profile file,
		export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/irun/lib
g77:
             GNU Fortran compiler. Use g77 test.f

maple:       mathematical manipulation and a plotting package (or xmaple).


floppy diskette:
      	     To read or write a msdos diskette, use the command,
	     mount /mnt/floppy.

mozilla:    a world-wide web browser.

www page:
          To create your own web page,  make a sub-directory, www in your area.
          Put a file,  index.html,  in your www area if possible. The files must
	  be world readable and the www directory and subdirectories world executable.

xfig:     a plotting package in x-window environment.

xmgr:
	  A 2-D plotting package.
